This is what Christine Smith states in her book "Your Secret Coach "
I totally believe that some issues in life is mind over matter. I'm normally a very positive person in life but sometimes stress or anxiety sets in and definitely shoots my confidence level down. For quite awhile now I have been reading this short book and I believe it has really helped me.... and then Tag.
I walk to the line with confidence and Tag reads this in me. I noticed my frame of mind was different at Regionals in Edmonton. My warm up is always the same and when I'm about three dogs away from walking to the line, Tag and I cuddle and talk while I give him a nice rub and this gives me time to Chillax a bit and not over think anything and just vision the run in my head. I never watch the dogs before me run as I do not need other ideas in my head especially at that moment.
I'm feeling great about our Nationals prep...Sarah and I went to Indus last Saturday just for the day and it was very good. The courses were tough but fun to handle and Tag did great. We did have some contact issues and that has made me worry a bit so I have been a bit stressed about that this week. Tuesday he did very well and only missed a couple contacts so I made him re-do them and then he realized " oh yeah I should just run to the bottom instead of just jump off"
We also went out tonight and my little helper Aislyn came with me and Tag did very, very good so my confidence is much better. Aislyn was so stinkin cute because I would tell her to stand near the end of the dog walk or wall and when Tag touched the yellow and laid down then she could give him the toy.... well she did an awesome job and she was so proud of herself.
We are off to Creston tomorrow and Tag is going for a vacation to Grandma and Grandpa's house where he will relax and just get to have fun with his buddy Zak. I plan to do just a little bit with him Tuesday night...Contacts :o) and that will be it. SO my goal for Nationals is to run as well as I did at Regionals - My effort has been made - over and over again and that is all I can do. So now we see what happens
and in the meantime we are going to have a really good time and enjoy Nationals so close to home and we are not going to sweat the small stuff :o)
Meet Tag
- TAG ALONG
- Welcome to my Blog of "TAG" he has brought so much joy to my life. I have learned alot about the sport of AGILITY. Tag is my first Agility dog and when I went Shopping for a strong, driven, fast Border Collie.... BOY OH BOY did I get it. He is very driven, has extreme intensity and is the speed of light. Tag is 4 years old and we have been training together since he was 8 weeks old... I'm very proud of our accomplishments the past 4 years as we had many hurdles to jump. I have been very thankful for the great support system that I have. My team has encouraged me through every training session, every trial and seminar. Plus the support system I have at home makes it all possible :)
Funny. I dug out that same book today to read.
